I am addicted to wormwood! It’s been a week and almost every spare moment I get to relax, I throw on Wormwood….an INCREDIBLE creation.

I am SO sad there is no forum and that somehow, Wormwood has ended or that there wasn’t interest, or bad marketing, but THIS show is INCREDIBLE! I come from the world of philosophy and Tolkien studies and I must say, this is almost epic literature.

Ending on a Trilogy (just got to Ch 3) is a good thing, but I see I’ve been too late! I could have shown you MY ideas in the forums! I would have loved it. This Dantean Trilogy is gonna be interesting but bittersweet. Unbelievable production. Even if I can’t resurrect Crowe, I can in my mind. I became a fan too late!!! Where can I buy Wormwood things? I’ll pay good money for scripts or memorabilia? That poster is pretty cool.

In fact, I have an Episode already written about Sparrow and Crowe before they ever touched Wormwood, those intervening years of the healing of the girl, the Beauty of Crowe as “a prominent psychologist” much like, say, Rupert Sheldrake and Dr. Strange, I get it. But how the compassion of that man came to Nurse a young Crowe, teach her the Occult ways of Magic.

The episode is about Sparrow and Crowe visiting “Tribal Oasis” a 13 acre “burning man” gypsy village with hounds WAYYYYYY up in Topanga on the side of a mountain, the epicenter of a Ancient Aztec. And that part’s TRUE! It’s a bit north of Malibu, in Topanga and, let’s just say dark magic and things happen there…I experienced it, but this time it would be Sparrow and Crowe going because of a more ancient reason related to not the sacrifice of virgins to the MOTHER Goddess, but rather, and Illuminatus Solar Cult, which does symbolic and literal acts of destroying the Goddess, which even relates to the Object. OB-JECT? ObJECT!

Anyway, that is all gentlemen. You MUST resurrect CROWE GODDAM YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your very kind comments! To answer your question — I (Dave Accampo) have a draft of his Xander Crowe prequel novel, “Red Right Hand,” which is about midway through a re-write. However, the more recent publication deal for the “Sparrow & Crowe” comic book miniseries has since taken precedent (since it’s also a prequel). That may revise things a bit more. We’re still working on various Wormwood related projects. Rob Allspaw is developing a spin-off series that is borne out of his NaNoWriMo novel attempt. We’ll fill you in more as we get a bit further. But for now, we can safely say that SPARROW & CROWE: THE DEMONIAC OF LOS ANGELES will be available in finer comic book stores in 2012.

In the end, the wrap-up? I don’t know, I enjoyed it all, mostly. I had trouble with Diedre and mostly with Sheriff Bradley and the chopping up of the “kid.” Ick. Really a sound effect I could have done without.

I like how it all came together, and it was really Sparrow’s story in many ways. I appreciated that Sparrow’s one “little” change was to bring back Jimmy D.,but that’s also where I didn’t like it. The end was too much “Oh, here we go again, it ain’t over yet.” (And while I don’t want it to be *over*, I love this world you’ve created, I didn’t like the “obvious sequel” feel of the last 40 seconds or so.

That said, I’m waiting for what’s next. Thanks, all.

honestly though, first two seasons, great great great. in my imagination it ended after season 2.

In the end, we felt we stuck to our story about the Object, and we told the tale of what it means, who is after it, and how the resolution changed all those involved.

But, you know, not everything is for everyone. We get it. All we can say is that what we did was honest to what we intended, and we’re very happy with the way it all resolved — and we stand by it.

the characters all just kind of die, without meaning, or end up being left in a bad position and nothing done about it. even Diedre’s character seemed to die for no real reason. i get that happens in horror but wormwood seemed to have meaning in every step it took.

i feel like the finale of the first season of heroes. we got a great story and so much effort put in to it, all just to make it to an ending that didnt really need to happen, and wasnt as great as we thought it would be. i feel like these characters were destined for so much more. im sorry if i sound harsh i really dont want to but it was so dissapointing. im just really really sad. wormwood was one of my favorite shows and it just went nowhere. at least rachel got some semblance of an ending even if throwing her in to harmonys body was completely useless.

Mostly due to the fact that I noticed many similarities to myself in his attitude, interests and demenor. Than I started to wonder if people found me as exasperating as the residents of wormwood find Crowe to be. Than I remembered that I don’t care.

Wormwood is enormous fun. It combines aspects of many of the things I love best: vintage supernatural thrillers, gothic horror (southern and otherwise), black comedy, and both vintage and modern radio drama. I’m having an excellent time with it.

And the bloke who plays Crowe deserves a big slap on the back for his English accent – there aren’t many British or American actors who can make it sound like they actually came from the other side of The Pond.

I’m looking forward to ploughing through the episodes as I garden (current unusually warm northern English summer weather permitting).

Not that I can’t wait for the season to be over or anything. I can’t wait to hear more of the talented voices and exquisite writing!

We *did* re-published those episodes between episodes 19-20 in the feed, so if you use iTunes, you can just look there and grab ‘em!

Though, with that voice and attitude (well, the attituce that Xander has, anyway), he’d make a great Doctor Who!

That said — if you really think about it, you’ll see that the plot IS moving forward. You’ve learned a lot since the end of Season Two. Cedric’s daughter came back, and she’s one of Adramelech’s vampires. Wormwood is surrounded by vampires and werewolves. We learned about Bishop Grail’s mission. We learned of Deidre’s daughter, and we learned the depth of the relationship between Crowe and McQueen. We’ve learned the SNSA has a special freelance contractor, Henry Howe, inside Wormwood — and her connection to Crowe was revealed in the Five Fingers of Glory. Crowe and Sparrow have been resurrected and are prisoners of Bressier. Jimmy Details stole the Hand of Glory and ran away from Wormwood. Don Marino has been put in prison, removing his immediate threat.

But we suspect you want to know about the Object, eh? Well, the next installment tells you a LARGE portion of the history of the Object. How about that?

Once the Hermit’s Tale is out, the Portraits will be done. And then we’ll move onto Wormwood: Revelation, which will come in a few months. THAT series will be VERY similar to Season One… and you’ll get all of the stuff you’ve been waiting for regarding Adramelech’s plan, the nature of the Object, and Jacob’s final fate.

So we suggest you stick around for Revelation. We think you’ll enjoy.

I listen to a lot of s.f. and horror podcasts, and yours is the best by far in terms of both writing and acting.

I have only one tiny suggestion: please try to balance the sound a little better. Or just make the actor that plays Xander stand 10 feet away from his mike. He’s a spectacular actor, but his voice is so much louder than the others, especially some of the women, that I’m constantly fiddling with the volume so I can hear all the dialogue without having my eardrums blown out every time Xander comes back on.

I enjoyed what you did with the Hand of Glory background series, letting your writers stretch themselves a little by trying out different prose styles. And I’ve been eating up the Wormword Portraits. The characters just get better and better the more we learn about them. Keep up the good work!

And: We’ll challenge your assertion that you’ve only heard Crowe for a minute and a half this season. Crowe was heavily featured in The Queen’s Tale and the Merchant’s Tale, and if you listen to the rest of the Criminal’s Tale, Crowe is also heavily featured there. The Criminal’s Tale actually covers material leading up to the very first episode of the series, so if you’re curious about Amanda Marino and how Crowe got involved in that case — it’s all there.

Getting back to the main story? Maybe… We like to think that the main story is in all of these portraits, just examined from different angles. There are small tidbits in each of the portraits. For example, McQueen’s tale did reveal that there was a new character in Wormwood in the present. But the major plot that we suspect you’re looking for will be THE focus of Wormwood: Revelation, which will follow Wormwood Portraits.

Though I do have to ask, it didn’t sound like Cedric screaming at the end, did his daughter pull a switch and burn her boyfriend instead?

I just wasn’t clear from the ending. Great job!

I suspect at least a few of the remaining Portraits will have characters you like.

Our final 8 episodes, which form a mega-arc called “Revelation” will be much more in line with Seasons 1 & 2.

so far portraits isnt nearly as good as the first two seasons, a lot of characters i dont care about popping up more… hopefully the last four wont leave hanging.

I had pretty much given up on seeing Xander and Sparrow as anything other than ghosts. I admit this was an inventive twist, makes me wonder if the main story is starting up again?

Nice to hear from Sparrow again at least, though I don’t think she and Xander will be as fun playing ghosts; assuming they are in fact dead. Hope the main story of Wormwood starts soon.

Also: yes, we know the box turns black. It’s our way of ensuring that you cannot take back the things you say. (j/k, of course.)

Ambrose is an unreliable narrator and our only perspective on his story. I’ll admit, it is a real challenge to tell a story in this epistolary style. There are clues in there as to what happened in his past, but even if that doesn’t come through, It’s still open to interpretation.

While I enjoyed the story itself, the ending seemed a little rushed. For all we know, the main character had killed his entire family and the letters could have been part of a delusion he created after committing the murder. I just felt you left too many loose threads in this one.

Looking forward to seeing what the hand is up to in the 1920′s though.

I think Lovecraft may have been too “on the nose” as you say. But really what it came down to was that we decided to chart different time periods, and we suggested a few ideas. I ended up with the 20′s, and it seemed more fun to do a Dashiell Hammett piece than a Lovecraft piece. Maybe it was a personal preference, but since we kinda do a bit of Lovecraft in all of our episodes, I found it more intriguing to go for a Hammett story.

I like the concept for the first few stories; very interesting choice of authors. Though I have to say, I was amazed HP Lovecraft wasn’t one of them. Was it just too obvious?

It could end at this point, yes, there’s some sort of closure here. But we are all hoping it doesn’t!

Gotta say, I was hoping for more from this episode. I expected some sort of major discovery or a turning point in the town’s conflict.

Still a fan of the series though. Any rough idea when season 3 will start?

The temporary problem we had has been fixed. Every file is now available and has been for a week or so. If you’re referring to Episode 10 of Season ONE, then that’s a different story. Episodes 10-12 do not work in iTunes because they never refreshed the feed. We’ve never been able to resolve that problem with iTunes, and so we RE-POSTED the files between Episodes 19 and 20 (Season One). If any other files do not work, please let us know. I know others have been listening to this episode. In fact, I downloaded it through iTunes myself.

All I can say is this: we love Crowe and the show wouldn’t be the same without him.

If so, I’m disappointed. I realize it must be increasingly difficult to think of reasons for him to stay, but he’s an integral character and I have trouble seeing much of a season finale with out him.

Otherwise, great episode; can’t wait to see how the season ends (hopefully with a few werewolves).

The story has been mapped out over three seasons. So we do have plans for a third season. And maybe some special little minis and spin-offs. We’ll see. Right now we’re just struggling to get through production on Season Two.

Thats the first thing I thought of when Sparrow started telling the story.

We are switching to a Monday schedule though, mostly as a result of the remainder of this month. July = Crazy.

Sadly, Lemora is indeed dead and gone. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s out of the picture forever. She died in water, so a few ripples might not be out of line…

Regarding the music tracks, we’re currently talking about some options. Stay tuned!

1. Is that really it for Lemora forever? Because I really liked her character.

2. Is there any possiblity that the original music tracks played throughout both series will be made available to download either from this site, Habit Forming Films’ site OR even from iTunes? I ask this question with *specific* reference to the track played in the background of this episode’s opening scene. I do believe that I am in love with it…

The first was the sort of “stand-alone” feel it had, which was cool.

The second is that it feels really clean and well put-together.

You guys are doing a great job this season! Keep up the good work, i’m really excited for the rest of it!

Yes, this one’s kind of an experiment, really a hybrid of a lot things. One intent was to create a more singular episode to stand alongside the series plots. But more than anything, there were several threads created by Lemora’s presence in Season One that needed to be addressed (in one way or another, whether accurately or not) before the show moves on. And even still, there are elements that do reflect on the current direction of the season, so stay tuned. Nothing happens here without it causing ripples.

I am going to miss Lemora, she was an interesting character and I liked the idea of her and Crow living together.

I was such a huge fan of Season One, and now that Season Two has finally dropped I’m friggin stoked.

One of the things an audio drama has over Film/Video/TV is that you can listen to audios all over again without getting tired of it. Just like listening to music – audio lends itself to multiple listens whereas the visual medium tends not to.

Wormwood is compelling listening and I am hanging for series 2 to hit the internet.
